Policy

Southern Demolition & Salvage Ltd acknowledges its responsibility to its staff, customers and the environment.

It is our intention to maintain an information system to provide information and resources to our workers so as to ensure Safety and Health in the workplace.

The Southern Demolition & Salvage Ltd Safety and Health Programme is a modular system of manuals designed for participation from all levels of our company, ease of use and a means to pass critical information and training about hazards in our working environment.

Systems

Staff are inducted and advised of hazards on each site on the following basis:

  1. Prior to contract work starting on each new job.
  2. Daily at tool box meetings prior to work starting for the day.
  3. Staff, public and visitors are reminded of site specific hazards through visual signage erected on site.

Once each month a staff safety meeting shall be held. This shall be an informal meeting that must be attended by Staff, all Site Supervisors and at least one Management Representative. The meeting shall be a forum to discuss and update information contained in the Safety Manuals and to inform and discuss potential hazards with other staff.

Changes to safety manual documentation shall be implemented as necessary and staff is to be made aware of such changes. These changes and staff notifications shall be recorded in the acknowledgment section of the appropriate manual.

This system recognises the fact that Safety and Health in the workplace is very important to our company and the methods to ensure we maintain it change on a regular basis. We have therefore implemented an evolving documentation system to meet these needs.
